Hudson River Fellowship 2013 - Week One

This week 19 fellows came together to paint at the White Mountain National Forest and surrounding areas for the 2013 Hudson River Fellowship.  The journey began at Jackson Falls and Emerald Pool where we painted with artists and Senior Fellows,  Erik Koeppel and Lauren Sansaricq. Later that evening we were introduced to the landscape by the good folks at the Jackson Historical Society, Leslie and Warren Schomaker.  These are a few images from our first look at the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Day 5, Tom Kegler offers us a glazing demo.

After taping off half his painting Tom applied a warm glaze to the right side. Note: due to very warm lighting in the room we were in, this photo is warmer than the painting actually is.
Tree painting demo with Tom Kegler. He reminded us to look for the "personality" in our subject. Here he looked to capture the "stoic grandfatherly" nature of the large tree in the distance.

Day 6, With great paintings in hand Tom's students pose for a group shot on the last day of their workshop.
