Portrait demo by Travis Schlaht

Travis Schlaht did this small portrait demo last night in his class. The model posed for 3 hours. Travis Schlaht teaches evening figure drawing classes with Edward Minoff that meet every night from 6:30-9:30.

Students in this class who have advanced to painting in the core program curriculum may work with paint.

Yes, is better that he doesn't have a site. He doesn't have one because he simply doesn't believe in that. Having a site gives a first impression about a painting that is different of when you see it in person. So that can be good or really REALLY bad.

He should have a geocities site like the ones in the early 90's.

Of course that the impression of a painting is very distinct in person that via web. But in many cases is all that we have. I love Rembrandt or Nerdrum and didn't see their works in person.

If books or images didn't exist, the diffusion of art will be very very restrained, and I think that is a bad thing.

He has some other paintings like this but that are done on paper. I can't find out if he used a primer for the paper beforehand or not, but I would be very interested to know. They are incredibly beautiful!
