I have been struggling about whether to apply to Angel or GCA in NY. I hear from students at Grand Central that Mr. Collins does not like to be approached with questions from students and offers minimal help except for a selected few he wants to push forward. Is this true? I also hear the school lacks structure. Too bad since I live in PA and would be easier to attend than moving to Florence, but GCA seems like summer camp compared to this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijzxRfR5odI&feature=related

If you would like to know more about the GCA core program I would be happy to answer your questions. Ive been studying there for 3 years and am very happy with the experience so far. If you're in PA why don't you come visit us and see what think? I'm sure any of the students would be glad to talk with you about their experience. We also have friends who have studied at Angel and Florence if you want to meet them and ask how they liked those schools.

Thanks Emilie for your response. I may do that. I am planning on visiting Angel in the summer with my parents. I have a couple friends there and they tell me the program is very serious and well structured. It is a big commitment and I don't want to waste time. I don't want to continue working at a restaurant after 3 or 4 years. I am 27 years old. I will contact Mr Collins to visit his academy as well. Is he a good teacher? How often does he teach? Does he do demonstrations often? I like his work very much also.

I think a lot of your questions will be answered when you come visit. All of the teachers here are very good and Jacob Collins is one of the best teachers I've ever had. This program is very challenging, most students are in class 13 hrs a day and very few have the commitment to make it through all four years of the curriculum. I'm sure you will find a good experience at either school, although our approaches are a bit different. You should definitely consider both to see what is best for you.
